Surgery under general anesthesia
Day surgery takes place when you come in at the agreed time and show up fasting.
Before surgery, the specialist and anesthesiologist will talk to you to give you information and to confirm that you want to proceed with the procedure.
You will receive information about what to expect after surgery (sick leave, activity, other advice such as wound care, nasal rinsing or similar), as well as information about the risk of complications.
The anesthesia staff takes me to the operating room and starts the anesthesia. You will receive general anesthesia and painkillers adapted to your height and weight.
Once the operation has been completed, you should stay in the recovery room for 1-2 hours in accordance with procedure for your surgery. It is important that you have someone who can pick you up when you have finished surgery and who can be with you for the first 24 hours after surgery. You should not be alone for the first 24 hours.
